Bio
I started travelling to Lourdes in 1996 as part of the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh Youth Pilgrimage. I absolutely loved the experience and it confirmed my desire to study medicine.
I began at the University of Dundee Medical School in 1997 and graduated in 2001 and 2003 with BMSc(Hons) and MBChB respectively. I have completed my medical training in Scotland and I am now a Consultant Physician & Nephrologist with a special interest in Critical Care at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and one of NHS Tayside's Associate Medical Director.
I have continued to travel with the Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh Lourdes Pilgrimage annually since 1996, as a Doctor since 2003 and as the Chief Medical Officer since 2008. I enjoy being part of a collegiate and collaborative team of Doctors, Nurses and Helpers travelling to Lourdes to ensure we deliver outstanding pilgrim centred care to all of our assisted pilgrims.
I am blessed to have twins born to on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes in 2012. Jessica and Patrick also travel annually with to Lourdes and look forward to the experience every year with our wider Lourdes family.
As part of the BLMA Council, I hope that I represent your views, and aim to encourage that we all share good practice for pilgrimage with each other and ensure excellent pilgrim assessment and care while visiting Lourdes.
