2019 Meeting

2019
The January 2019 meeting took place in Blackpool. It was a great success, thanks to the organisational skills of Nikki Wisdom and colleagues!
There were over 60 delegates in attendance for the weekend, as well as the Director of the Lourdes Pilgrimages Directors Group, and the highlight of the programme was undoubtedly the testimony from Sr Bernadette Moreau. As a French speaker, she was accompanied by Dr Alessandro De Fransciscis who translated. We were very lucky in that she arrived on Friday and we were able to get to know her a little better. She is a true inspiration, and all who heard her were very moved. We also had a talk on respiratory medicine, including advice about fitness to fly from Dr John O'Reilly and Kim O'Connor took the whole conference through the Dementia Friends programme, which was very well received by the clinicians, and has inspired some of us to introduce it to our own pilgrimages. In keeping with tradition, Sunday morning was given over to workshops, and we covered travel practicalities and the implications for us of new CSAS Safeguarding document.
The next meeting in is November 2019 in Dundee. More details about this decision can be found on the news page, and further information will be available here in due course.
